It’s usb junk. Not supporting crap like that is a good thing.
I've been told the USB3 ones are better but both the ones I've had would burn a ton of CPU power and still be laggy. Its kind of the nature of USB there are a TON of interrupts. Replaced with a cheaper display port hub and been happy ever since. And this was with a 6700HQ so not like it was a weak CPU.

DisplaylinkHrm, can't agree, sorry - whilst I HAVE had the occasional hiccup with Displayport docks (not with Windows, only Mac), they were minor - and I never, ever saw any issues with CPU usage etc - this was with USB3 devices. For my work I keep a reasonably close eye on CPU usage also due to running pretty demanding workloads, so I'd have noticed if, when it was supposed to be idle, there was any CPU burn from Displaylink.
